Morgan James Launches Sports Professor Series

Only one industry has a newspaper section all to itself. The sports industry. A new book series by Morgan James Publishers explores the thriving business of sports via titles sure to engage industry titans, athletes, and casual fans alike.

Fall 2009, Morgan James Publishers will change that dynamic by launching The Sports Professor Series, under the direction of “The Sports Professor” Rick Horrow, CEO of Horrow Sports Ventures and leading sports industry consultant and media personality. Horrow Sports Ventures Marketing Director Karla Swatek will serve as Managing Editor of the Series, the first-ever book collection devoted to the dollars-and-cents side of sports.

The first title to be released in The Sports Professor Series is Return of the Gold: The Journey of Jerry Colangelo and the Redeem Team, written by Phoenix sportswriter Dan Bickley with Colangelo, former owner of the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks and director of the gold medal winning U.S. basketball team in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Return of the Gold chronicles Colangelo’s formation and leadership of the so-called “Redeem Team” – a formidable task in light of the towering NBA egos involved.

Fall 2010, The Sports Professor Series will focus on the increasingly industrial world of youth sports via two titles from Pop Warner Little Scholars and the Executive Director of the 400,000-member organization, Jon Butler. One to-be-named-later book will be a comprehensive guide for Pop Warner parents and volunteers, while the other Young Adult title will comprise a collection of inspiring stories from such notable Pop Warner alums as Matt Ryan, Earnest Graham, Jon Bon Jovi, Donovan McNabb, actress Mandy Moore, and Darius Rucker, lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish.
